Oakland International Airport International Arrivals Building

Oakland, CA

The International Arrivals Building (IAB) project involves the design of two new building additions as well as the seismic retrofit of the existing arrivals buildings. Improvements to the building include a new baggage carousel system, building additions to provide space for queuing and processing, seismic upgrades in agreement with ASCE 41-13 Life Safety performance objectives, reconfiguration of the passenger boarding bridge, and aesthetic upgrades to the existing buildings. The IAB will remain operational during the expansion and modernization. Consequently, the design will take into account the necessary phasing to maintain airline and customs/border patrol operations.
