Center for Performing Arts

James Logan High School, Union City, CA

The new 599 seat performing arts center is a visually exciting building teaching space and stations organized in two distinct wings. The theater features a cantilevered balcony and seating area beneath exposed steel trusses and a perimeter catwalk while the stage features an operable orchestra pit and access tunnel. The structural system consists of a steel frame and with metal stud and insulated metal panel cladding as well as CMU walls in acoustically sensitive areas. The project is the recipient of 2007 CASH/AIACC Leroy F. Greene Design Award, Award of Honor and 2002 AIA Santa Clara Valley Design Awards, Award of Honor.
